Over 50 prom dresses were given out during the annual Project Prom at Alliance High School! Along with the dresses, shoes, accessories, men's suits and ties were also given out to many students excited for prom next month. 💃🕺 If an AHS junior or senior was unable to attend Project Prom on Friday, they can reach out to their school counselor to set up an appointment to look for a dress, suit, shoes or accessories. A special shout out goes to the students in the Job Training Coordination (JTC) class, Stacey Breedon, Teresa McMillen and Heidi Hoffmeyer for organizing and hosting Project Prom. A big thank you goes to Gloria Kovacik for offering her seamstress services to tailor the dresses and suits for the students at no cost. We can't wait to see the students at Prom! #RepthatA

4th grade students in Casey Cross' and Melanie Dubaj's reading classes, have been studying animal adaptions in non-fiction texts as well as fictional folktales "explaining" how animal traits came to be. The learning extended to art class where students' created a watercolor chameleon. In music class, the students learned by adding multi-cultural folktales to the Choir's Spring Concert set list. This team effort took student learning deeper and made for meaningful conversations and connections across academics and fine arts! #RepthatA

The kindergarten classes at Alliance Early Learning School recently finished their community helpers unit, which allowed them to learn about all kids of different jobs and careers! They had the opportunity to hear from a guest speakers from many different career fields. One of the guest speakers was Abbey Blake, the Jobs for Ohio Graduates (JOG) teacher at Alliance High School. Mrs. Blake, along with two of her students spoke with the kids about the importance of making good first impressions and about how JOG helps to teach the AHS students important job-related skills. Exposing our young Aviators to a variety of career fields helps them to learn what their interests are and what careers they may want when they grow up! The sky's the limit for our Aviators! ✈️ #RepthatA

Lindsay Bonilla, a children's author 📚 from North Canton, visited the students at Alliance Preschool, Alliance Early Learning School and Alliance Elementary School to bring one of her books to life! Lindsay read her story "Polar Bear Island" for all the students to enjoy. The book is about Kirby the Penguin 🐧 visiting Polar Bear Island where she meets Parker the Polar Bear 🐻‍❄️, who is a bit hesitant about having a penguin on the island. Kirby and her family spend time on the island and show Parker and the other polar bears that it's not so bad to make new friends. Lindsay brought the story to life by incorporating some of the students at each building. She brought special props that turned the students into Parker the Polar Bear and Kirby and her family of Penguins. The students had a blast learning about Polar Bear Island and hearing about Lindsay's career as an author, her family and the inspiration behind her stories. We appreciate Lindsay for stopping by our schools and sharing her stories with our Aviators! A big thank you goes to the Alliance Elementary PTO for sponsoring her visit! #RepthatA

Alliance Intermediate School hosted a Gallery Walk on Wednesday to showcase the Black History Month Projects the students worked hard on! Every 4th grader at AIS spent time in their reading classes researching an individual of their choice. They selected athletes, musicians, artists, civil rights leaders and even local leaders who they were inspired by. The student wrote a report and presented about their person then created a poster board, cereal box or diorama with history, fun facts and information they learned. The students worked very hard on their projects and were excited to welcome community members and their families to see see the Black History Month Gallery! The guests were tasked with picking three projects and providing feedback for the students. All 4th graders also had the opportunity to peer review a project of their choice. What a wonderful project for our Aviators! Way to go, AIS 4th graders! 👏👏 #RepthatA
